Amuse Me, Oh Mighty Theme Parks

My friend Mark posts his thoughts about our recent trip to Universal Studios, and I think he does a very complete job reviewing our trip.

A couple of weeks ago, Ferrett also weighed in on the HP part of Islands of Adventure.

And Julia Rios talks about Disney briefly as she journeys through California.

Behind every great man going into Hogwarts, there has to be a very sweaty woman.

I agree with pretty much everything Mark and Ferrett said.

I also realized that Disney has become my theme park standard. More about me and Disney next entry.

  1. Disney is kind of the scary gold standard for amusement park “experiences,” isn’t it? I’ve lived in Florida all my life, I even spent a summer working for Sea World, and Disney’s just… more.

    (Although orca are awesome.)

We haven’t been to WWoHP yet. I was going to go (with the Infinitus thing) but the combined cost was too high for my stay-at-home mom budget, plus summer camp fees were all coming due. I ended up canceling out of all of it.

I still want to go, but I was glad to read Ferrett’s report and yours (and Mark’s) because it sounds like it would be MUCH better to wait and take my daughter after the “new” has worn off. 😉

  2. No, I was in Florida, too! But now I am in South Carolina. I didn’t get over to Universal for the Harry Potter stuff, but Disney World was a trip in itself.

  3. Steph and I could live at Disney I think. Seriously, we know enough nooks and crannies that we could probably hide out for a few months without them catching us 🙂 We always go down in January or February to avoid the crowds. It’s really nice being able to walk onto rides without a wait or getting reservations at the really popular restaurants without any trouble.

Looking forward to returning in 2012. Steph and I are going to attempt the Goofy Challenge. That’s running the Disney 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday followed by the Disney Marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday. Get a special medallion to grace all the soreness and aches.
