Progress-a-mundo

After an afternoon of scooping snow, because that’s the Iowa way, I settled in to some writing. I have written a synopsis and outlined everything I had so far, and added another scene to the actual manuscript.

It looks like I will be able to send the first chapter for my application. I will be editing the treatment to be as svelte as possible. It may be to my advantage to include a synopsis to explain the general thrust of the plot.

Here’s that synopsis so far! Would you read this book? I think the last line is a little cheesy, so I’m still working on it.

Three threads of folklore come together as the imaginations of three immigrant groups intermix. Feldspar, the usurper of his brother King Pettigrew, tries to gain an iron hold in the kingdom of European Sidhe by cementing his alliance with the dark forces of Hell, the land that borders the faerie realms. To do so, he must pass through the desert of the Sudanese adventurers, the progeny of the Arabian nights tales, and risk discovery by Rohren, exiled there by Feldspar’s own magic. Norwegian trolls, who guard the gates that separate the human world from that of their imagination, discover King Pettigrew’s essence has been fragmented. The trolls, attempting to reunite the faerie realms and strengthen the gates, undermine Feldspar and search for the pieces of Pettigrew. The adventurers aid the valiant Rohren against Feldspar, but Feldspar has allies of his own. As the lines between the worlds of magic and humankind blur, the battle for the faerie realms begins.

Next session, I continue with the outline. Oh Gods of the Plot, be kind to your follower!
