Haydee

Here’s the opening of Haydee’s section.

Haydee

I remember my life from a very early age. I am Haydee, daughter of Ali Tebelen and his lovely consort Vasiliki, and I hail from Greece. The events of my early life shape the memories of it, for they are as shocking as any sights any child should have to endure. As I have always carried myself as a princess, I shall relate these tales to you as regally as one can, having lived through these distasteful events. You must not think me given to exaggeration, as I have lived all my life reliving these events to an incredible degree of accuracy. You see, some day the reliving of these events will aid me in seeking my revenge.

Some day history will narrate the tale of Ali Tebelen in a more pastel shade, but I assure you that in the version I tell, the blood is crimson and the treachery the shade of midnight. Love is the color of the noblest passion of purple, and loyalty the color of the golden sun. I am the daughter of the deepest love and the noblest heart, the highest beauty and the broadest justice. I am the heir to governance. I was the beloved child of my father.
