Details of Current and Future Projects

This really is for me. I’ve got quite a list of projects I’d like to work on now and in the future, and I’d like to snapshot some synopses of them for my future reference.

You might find it interesting too, but if you don’t, under a cut they go. Follow along for more details.

Projects in Circulation

Jackal’s First Hunt: Junior high student Drew Smith becomes involved in high espionage during a week end stay with his sister in New York.

Mark Twain’s Daughter: A short story detailing Suzy Twain’s last days as she dies of meningitis.

Point River: A short story. One sharp word too many drives a husband away.

The Substance of Shadows: Errol Klarion must fight and defeat his familiar at age 16 or damned. Stephanus Gale is caught between the Klarions and his father for possession of the Klarion scroll. The two cousins must work together to protect their family from themselves.

Projects in Progress

Eine Natürliche Studie des Narragansett Leviathan: A fiction scrapbook. In the 18th century, a magician and a scientist uncover the mystery of the nature of the beast in Narrangansett Bay.

The Winter the Troll Danced with Old Nick: Grant Heierdahl and his fellow young trolls protect the town of Decorah from elf forces looking for a missing infant princess.

Projects for the Future

Abigail Rath Versus!: This will be a young adult series starring junior high vampire killers Abigail Rath and Vince Brewster. The number of books are open ended, but will be about our duo working their way through a variety of supernatural plots.

Dead Grrrl Adventures: An examination of whether life is better than death, or the reverse. It will be a look at the afterlife from 3 very different women who arrived there in different ways and their deaths’ affect on those they left behind.

The Empty Horizon: A 4 book series retelling Dumas’ Count of Monte Cristo with magic from the differing viewpoints of Mercedes, Edmond, and Haydee.

Gossamer and Veridian: Books centered on the folklore of Iowa populations. The first is The Winter the Troll Danced with Old Nick. There will be a quest book with Erinmyr and Magdalene, a desert book with Rohren and a yet to be named Arabic character, and a modern Urban Fantasy bring Grant, Arabic character, Magdalene and Erinmyr. I suspect there will be around 4 books in this series.

The Klarion Legacy: In addition to The Substance of Shadows, there will be a book about Isolde and Elaine; Geoffrey, Marcellus, and Flavia; and Olivia. There will also be a sequel to wrap up the events started in Substance. I anticipate 5 books.

Mod: A time travel story back to the spy TV universe of the early 60s by a current day young woman. Part Mad Men Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Rabid Dogs: A small town is terrorized by a suspected werewolf in the 70s.

And that’s what’s up in the attic right now.

How about you? What are your ideas?

  1. 50-something con woman looks into the death of her former partner in crime. Never written a mystery before now – that whole red herring/twist thing is tricky.

  2. “The Call of the Beast” After being promoted,a telemarketer finds out his company is owned by satanists. They think he can go far in the organization.

“Hard Luck” Lord Aaron Melville, Protector of Planet Garnacia, owes his station to being the right man in the right place. Constantly having to play the hero has started to annoy Melville, whose desires run to wine, women, and gambling.
